Showed
Showed means the patient was physically present at the consultation.
This stage is the largest single loss in the full arch funnel after contact. Benchmark show rates sit near 60 percent, which means two of every five confirmed consultations simply do not happen, and every one of those was paid for.
A refundable consult deposit of 50 to 100 dollars is the cheapest known intervention here, moving show rate toward 78 percent. It costs the practice nothing to implement and it lowers top of funnel volume, which is why an agency measured on lead count will rarely suggest it.
What is included and what is excluded
Counts
- The patient physically attends at the practice
- The patient attends a scheduled virtual consultation and is seen
- A late arrival who is still seen that day
Does not count
- No shows and same day cancellations
- A patient who arrives and leaves before being seen
- A rescheduled appointment, which counts at its new date
A worked example
A month has 21.25 booked consultations at benchmark show rate.
- 01Booked: 21.25
- 02Benchmark show rate: 60 percent
- 0321.25 x 0.60 = 12.75
12.75 consultations showed, and 8.5 confirmed appointments did not happen.
How this differs from
- Booked
Booked is the appointment. Showed is whether the patient arrived.
- Presented
Showing is attendance. Presented means a plan with a fee was delivered.
- Cost per consult
Cost per consult divides spend by this stage, not by bookings.
These definitions come from our published measurement standard. Read The Arch Standard for the reporting rules they sit inside, or see every term.
