Booked

Booked means a qualified patient is on the schedule with a confirmed date.

A booking is a calendar commitment, not an intention. A patient who says they will call back to arrange a time is not booked, and a slot pencilled in without the patient confirming is not booked either.

Benchmark scheduling rates on qualified leads sit near 85 percent, which makes this the least leaky stage in the funnel. That is exactly why the stages either side of it deserve more attention than it usually gets.

What is included and what is excluded

Counts

  • A confirmed date and time held on the practice schedule
  • A rescheduled consultation with a new confirmed date
  • A virtual consultation with a confirmed date and time

Does not count

  • A patient who intends to call back with a time
  • A slot held internally that the patient has not confirmed
  • A cancellation with no replacement date, which returns to the previous stage

A worked example

Twenty five qualified leads move through scheduling.

  1. 01Qualified: 25
  2. 02Confirmed on the schedule: 21.25
  3. 0321.25 / 25 = 0.85

A booking rate of 85 percent, which is 21.25 booked consultations.

How this differs from

  • Qualified

Qualified is eligibility. Booked is a date on the calendar.

  • Showed

Booked is the commitment. Showed is the attendance.

  • Show rate

Booked is the denominator of show rate.
